Zhuhai, a prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province, is the core city on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary.It is one of the central cities in the Pearl River Delta District, an important node city in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and one of the first four special economic zones established in China. It is the only city in China whose overall urban landscape is listed as one of the "Top 40 National Tourist Attractions". Zhuhai is also named as China's coastal cities, new garden cities, and the newly promulgated "City of Happiness" by the state.
By the end of 2019, Zhuhai had a permanent population of 2.02 million. Zhuhai is the city with the largest ocean area and island area, the most islands and the longest coastline in the Pearl River Delta region.With a sea area of 6,019 square kilometers, a coastline of 691 kilometers and 146 islands (a total area of 236.9 square kilometers), it is known as the "city of 100 Islands".
